What I Mean by Doubt and Being Unshakeable
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” Emerson
“ Intent in nature orchestrates its own fulfillment.” Chopra
Being “unshakable in all things” means an end to all doubt. Now you may protest at first: this sounds like self-righteousness, someone who always thinks they are right about everything. This is because our mind jumps back to duality — right/wrong — and associates the idea of doubt with this duality. “There’s no doubt about it!” we say when we’re sure we’re right.
I’m talking about doubt on a larger scale where in a consistently expanded state we no longer question the moment. We are in such harmony with the flow of Life, with Being, that we allow each moment to be as it is, not as we think it should be, and we meet it with grace. Every aspect of our lives has come into this harmony — our thoughts, words and actions, even our jobs and relationships. With integration, we see that all needs are met and that there is no need to be reactive, i.e., defensive, which is fear-based resistance (and includes fearing death – a shedding of the body as Life continues). Undifferentiated from All There Is, we know in the marrow of our bones that our individual life is meaningful and purposeful, even when we don’t see the immediate results of our actions. This experiential knowing makes us unshakable in all things.
Even as we have an intention for how our life will be and move in that direction, we realize nothing needs to be forced and changes are inevitable. We come to this understanding:
I don’t need to try to make something happen.
It happens spontaneously.
It rises out of its own accord,
Its own need to be created.
And it happens in the moment,
As Life presents its possibilities —
As what is created presents itself.
This is the essence of nature.
This doesn’t mean we never encounter difficult situations or people. It means when we are presented with a difficult situation, we are also presented with everything we need — the complete wherewithal — to handle it with loving kindness in the very moment it appears – the clarity of integration. (As an innate part of the ego, fear can block these abilities on the path to integration; ego thinks it is separate from All There Is and fears the loss of control. Development of the ego is an important stage in growth, yet if we continue to identify with it and its separateness, we experience doubt, the struggle of duality, and are afraid we may be overwhelmed by the perceived difficulties of becoming consciousness and knowing our Truth.)
Yet, in the state of Bliss, peacefully learning without struggle, we interact in loving harmony with the fullness of Being. Ego gives way to Spirit’s lead as it realizes its participation in, and non-separation from, all Life. In that simple act of allowing, our resistance dissipates and life becomes effortless (ego now in service to Spirit). Yes there are slips along the way, but when we recognize we are not separate from the Divine, everything flows freely and all knowledge, wisdom, and any necessities for a given moment in time are met in that moment. Experiencing this, we become unshakable. There is no doubt. Our wish is Life’s desire.*
* As Chopra notes, “…in actuality people who are connected with the conscious intelligence field adopt the intentions of the universe. Their intentions are being met…because the cosmic mind is using their intentions to fulfill its own desires.”
